Belua Designs is now closed! It's been such a wonderful and happy experience over the last 7 years but the time has come to move on to new crafty endeavors. I'm no longer making monsters but if you want to follow along on my new adventures pop on over to the Wally&Roops blog or facebook page and say Hi!

I can't believe I made my first monster 7 years ago and I also can't believe that making these funny little creatures has been my full time job for the past 5 years! I've had an amazing time and met so many wonderful people but the time has come to change directions and start a new adventure. My fella, our pups and I are moving back to the west coast to be closer to family so I decided that this was the best time to close Belua Designs and focus on my new business "Wally&Roops". I just want to thank everyone for all of your support over the years and all of your kind words and laughter. I also want to thank you for sharing photos of your monsters and telling me stories of the mischief they've gotten into! lol!
I'll be sewing as usual for the next 5 weeks and will be at the Old Strathcona Market until March.23 so you still have a chance to get a monster! I'll also be putting a few on etsy every Sunday until the end of March.
If you want to follow me on my new endeavor pop on over to my Wally&Roops facebook page and say hi!

I love September. I love the weather change and the cool nights when I can actually start wearing cozy sweaters and scarves! I also like planning for holiday craft shows! I found out a few weeks ago that I was accepted in to Make It Edmonton! yay! I'll be selling a pile of lovable monsters as well as my scarves, pillows and photographs. It's all very, very exciting! It runs from November.22-25 at the Enjoy Centre in St.Albert and it's one of the best shows around so you better come and check it out!
I'm still figuring out what other shows to do but I'll keep you posted!
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!

Well, there will always be monsters (of course!) but there are other bits of crafty goodness that I'm very excited about creating and have recently started selling!! yay!
There are lovely 8x10 prints of my photography. Lots of pretty macro and nature shots!
I also get my photos digitally printed onto fabric and make decorative pillows!
and I use this fabric to make infinity scarves too!
All of these things are available on my Etsy store www.belua.etsy.com and will also be available at all upcoming craft shows (dates to follow!). Currently you can get pillows and monsters at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market every Saturday from 8-3!

Last week was a big milestone for me and Belua! It was the 5 year anniversary of my first ever farmers market (which was in beautiful Vernon, BC). I remember that I was so excited that somebody bought a monster that I used the money for a celebratory lunch at the local Pantry with my fella! I still love making my little creatures but I've decided to change things up a bit....well, a lot! Over the next couple of months Belua will be changing and expanding with the introduction of some non-monster craftiness (monsters will still be available, not to worry!)
The idea to change started about a year ago when I fell in love with photography. It was a lovely hobby until one glorious day when I discovered that I could use my photographs to design my own fabric and get them digitally printed onto beautiful cotton fabrics. A new obsession was born!
I still have some tweaks to work out on the designs but by July you can expect to see lovely cushions made from cotton/linen mixed with vintage fabrics.
I'm also very excited about a new line of infinity scarves. I've designed the front fabric from my macro nature photography and had the patterns printed onto either organic cotton jersey or cotton voile. They'll be backed with a solid cotton linen.
The fabric is nice and soft and long enough to get a few different scarf-wearing styles.
I'll also have prints, cards and other bits of photo stuff. yay!
Change also means a whole new look to the blog, etsy store, tags and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting :) lol! I also need to get some applications into a few shows so I have somewhere to sell this stuff when it's ready!
I can't wait to reveal this whole new "Belua Designs" to you but until then you can always find me and the monsters at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market every Saturday from 8-3 in aisle 9!
